Khi sử dụng Virtual PC, bạn sẽ tạo ra 1 máy tính ảo “nằm trong” máy tính của bạn. Bạn có thể cài hệ điều hành cho nó, cấu hình mạng, … nói chung, y hệt như một chiếc máy tính khác. Thông thường chương trình loại này hay được sử dụng để thử nghiệm hệ điều hành mới, khi mà bạn không muốn cài vào 1 ổ đĩa khác, hoặc khi bạn muốn thực hành các thao tác về quản trị mạng, thiết lập, kết nối mạng, … Tùy nhu cầu khác nhau mà sẽ sử dụng khác nhau. Với Virtual PC, bạn đã sở hữu 2 chiếc máy tính trong 1.

Virtual PC lets you create separate virtual machines on your Windows desktop, each of which virtualizes the hardware of a complete physical computer.
